How to remove duplicate lines
Paste your list with one item per line, or open a text file. Repeated lines disappear from the result straight away, and the order of everything else is unchanged. The summary below the tool shows how many lines were removed.
Options
- Keep first or last copy decides which occurrence survives. Keeping the last copy is useful when later lines are newer versions.
- Ignore case treats Alice@Example.com and alice@example.com as the same line.
- Ignore extra spaces compares lines after trimming and collapsing runs of spaces, so stray indentation does not hide a duplicate.
- Leave blank lines alone keeps empty lines where they are instead of removing all but the first.
- List the duplicates shows each repeated line and how many times it appeared.
To sort the result as well, use Sort lines, or chain both in a pipeline.
FAQ
Does it keep the original order?
Yes. Only the repeated copies are removed; the remaining lines stay in the order you pasted them.
Are lines with different accents or Unicode forms treated as duplicates?
Lines that look identical but are encoded differently, such as é typed as one character or as e plus an accent, are treated as the same line.
