How to remove line breaks
Paste the text, or open the .txt file, and copy the unwrapped result. Line breaks inside a paragraph are replaced with a space, while blank lines between paragraphs are kept.
Options
- Keep paragraph breaks: turn it off to join everything into one block of text.
- Re-join hyphenated words: when a line ends in a letter and a hyphen and the next line starts with a lower-case letter, the hyphen is removed and the halves are joined, so hyph- / enated becomes hyphenated. A compound that happened to break at its hyphen, such as well-known, would lose its hyphen too, so give the result a quick read.
- Collapse extra spaces turns runs of spaces into one; Trim each line removes indentation before joining.
- Join lines with sets what replaces each break. A comma and a space turns a column of values into a list.
FAQ
Why does text copied from a PDF have line breaks?
PDFs store each printed line separately, so copying gives you the line breaks of the page layout rather than real paragraphs.
Does it change Windows line endings?
Paragraph breaks keep the style of your input, CRLF or LF.
